here is something cool about wing chun

About Sifu david Peterson Training:
It all began when as little kids we used to watch martial arts and other fighting movies, watching Bruce Lee and those Japanese shows in Australia. All this inspired me to learn more about it and the Asian culture. I started to train in Australia and also studied Shao Lin Kempo which is also known as Shao Lin boxing.  The training was really great but the overall learning process was pretty slow. I got a chance to get training from someone who knew Wing Chung and being a big fan of Bruce Lee and Asian culture; I went to check it out and ended up at that school for around 10 years.
After sometime I discovered that his claims of being qualified weren’t true which resulted in disagreement between us. Thanks to my Chinese studies that lots of Chinese people told me that what I was being taught wasn’t good enough. He used to make different excuses as why I wasn’t ready to take next step, which was quite obvious.
Eventually, I came to decision of moving to Hong Kong and find a genuine teacher of Wing Chun. Since I already learned Mandarin in back home, I took its help to learn Cantonese in Hong Kong.

How did you felt training under Wong Shun Leung?
Although I didn’t train with him most of the time due the fact that it was Hong Kong training style which was very casual but the overall experience was simply amazing! However, I used to remain busy most of the time because of my training with all of my SiHings (seniors or older Kung Fu brothers) and juniors. Sifu used to enter the class from time to time so he could help us with any problems or talk about those topics which would help us to understand our training in a better way. As I became good he would take more participation in my training. I also got very lucky due to the fact that when he used to visit Australia, he stayed at my house for weeks. I considered it a bonus because I could listen to his ideas and then make comparisons.
As I was a teacher, I used to get lots of breaks when term ended. There were times when I went to Hong Kong and trained for up to 2 months. I went as many times as it was possible and I always tried to stay as long as it was possible. It became a norm for me since 1993 till he passed away.

Can you tell us about your book?
Well, it’s not like those typical books about martial arts, I categorize them as a “how to do it book” which tell you how to throw a front kick or some other form of attack. I tried a different approach and focused on “how to think book” which is about how you can get inside the head of my trainer, my Sifu and learn what it’s all about when it boils down to fighting. I quoted him directly and then explained his intention as well. My as sifu david peterson goal was to convey them the message that my teacher gave me and learn through it.
